25 random things about me!

It's all over FB so I thought I too should give it a try. Didn't feel like posting it on FB though. This seemed like a better idea.

1. I love collecting earrings. I think I get this from my mom. She has an amazing eye for unique pieces of jewellery and most often than not I simply flick them from her and put my right of ownership on them.

2. Inspite of having majored in Graphic design after a degree in Applied Art, I can’t sketch for nuts. I am a horrible horrible illustrator. I always think of design solutions that would not require me to sketch. It scares me!

3. I cannot make long term plans. I envy those who know exactly what they want and actually have those three year and five year plans. Over the years I’ve come to believe the saying that ‘life is what happens to you while you are busy making other plans’

4. I still believe that a guy must always make the first move. I think it’s great when a guy takes the effort to let his feelings known before she does.

5. I can be pretty insensitive. It’s not something I am proud of but I honestly don’t realise when something I say hurts someone. I’m pretty frank and straightforward and it takes sometime of knowing me before one can realise that, that is how I am and I don’t really mean to be rude. I guess I feel everyone is as thick skinned as I am.

6. I love playing pranks. It keeps the child in me alive.

7. I am a sweet-o-hoilc. I prefer pastries and chocolates to ice creams though. I LOVE bitter chocolate. They are the best anti-depressants!

8. I value friendship a lot. I will go all out for friends that I care about and am absolutely unforgiving if someone I trust hurts me in any way.

9. Anyone who meets me for the first time will always think I am abnormally tall. But never have I considered it to be a disadvantage or a negative trait. I find it funny when I read that tall models were awkward about their height in their teens. I like to believe that other women (and men) envy me for my height ;)

10. I have a habit of biting my lips and fidgeting with my hair. My parents tried every possible method to get me to leave the habit which includes scolding me (even now!) to applying red chili powder and bitter ointment, but in vain. I’m not proud of it but now I don’t give a damn about what other people think either. I like to call it day dreaming.

11. I love textures, fabrics and materials. I can give tons and tons of suggestions and ideas to other people when they go fabric shopping for clothes or interiors, but when it comes to me, I often land up sticking to the basics.

12. I can watch nonsense on TV for hours together. I’ve actually spent an entire Sunday watching 4 movies back to back- that too immediately after having watched movies through my entire plane journey of over 20 hours.

13. I love dancing and I don’t give a damn about what people say when I do! I feel everyone can dance. With a li’l bit of alcohol in the system, it’s even more fun!

14. My name means ‘rules and principles’ and I now realise that over the years, I’ve taken it a bit too seriously. For most of my life I’ve pretty much adhered to the rules either set by my parents or principles that I’ve decided for myself.

15. Contrary to popular belief, I am not ambitious. It probably has something do with the fact that I don’t believe in making plans. Most of the great things in life have just happened to me and it’s taken a while for me to realise the value of it.

16. I procrastinate and can also give up easily. It takes a lot of perseverance from the other end to get me to try harder. But once challenged I do manage to go all the way.

17. I never knew I could write poetry till I tried it on my blog. Somehow laziness got the better of me and I haven’t made an attempt in a long time. But I did manage to surprise myself.

18. Adventure gives me a high! I love risky stuff and believe that one must try everything in life atleast once.

19. I can’t talk on the phone for a long time and I wonder how people mange to do it for hours on end. After a point I just get bored.

20. I believe dreams have a hidden meaning. But no matter how hard I try, I can rarely remember mine.

21. Like most normal women I too have a fetish for shoes and bags. I hate it when I cannot manage to find shoes in my size and have often been embarrassed by the shocked gaze of other shoppers when I ask the store guy for shoes in my size! (FYI it’s a size 9/10 :P )

22. I dislike the computer and use it mainly because my profession demands it. Although it has become a way of life and I probably wouldn’t be able to survive without the internet, I don’t like the technology bit. I can never remember to update softwares or defragment or whatever...

23. I love driving. There have been times when I have driven alone aimlessly for hours just to ‘defragment’ my brain. That’s the time when I talk to myself and have often been subjected to curious glances by people in adjacent cars.

24. I love the sea. Infact, I love being near any water body. There’s nothing better than hearing the sound of waves crashing against the rocks on a quiet moonlit night.

25. I believe in God. After certain incidences in my life, I have never questioned His existence.

Again I have managed to surprise myself by actually reaching point # 25! This is actually just an excuse for me to procrastinate the other (more important) work at hand! So I guess I have been honest!
